Curtis Dalton is a self-taught artist. His primary paint medium is applied to textiles. He became fascinated with the medium of paint on textiles after purchasing a tee shirt with the image of Bob Marley. He was drawn to the artwork as well as how the colors were applied. He discovered that the unique process that produced these was named BATIK, an ancient craft dating back over two thousand years. Each shirt is impossible to duplicate due to the random crackle pattern produced by the way wax is applied. Each tee shirt therefore is a one a kind original. Mr. Dalton’s work has been well received wherever displayed including a one man show in Oregon. Ongoing education at Contra Costa County College expanded his skills to include silk paintings. His interests include teaching metaphysics. Mr. Dalton and his work may be seen most weekends in JACK LONDON SQUARE if he is not participating in other venues around the Bay Area. |
