I have always enjoyed being an artist and educator. By the age of five I was drawing and painting and continue to paint every day between daily activities. People and animals have always been a great interest to me and, using vivid colors, abstract and realistic themes together, I hope to bring hopefully, a startling and versatile focus to my paintings. As an oil painter I try to paint a wide variety of subjects; musical artists that I call, with great affection, the "Blue People", to exotic animals and the 'special moments' of children are sacred things to me and I am driven to put the brush to them. Born in Oakland CA in the late 50s my parents knew I had an artist's leaning the first time I held a crayon in my young hands. In 1980 I enrolled in the California College of Arts and Crafts and graduated with a B.F.A. degree in painting. I was nominated the outstanding college graduate for "The National register of Outstanding College Graduates" and as the title suggests this ranks high in my life as an artist. I have exhibited in various galleries and venues in the Oakland-San Francisco bay area in the years since. My work history includes being an educator in the Oakland Unified School district, the Emeryville School District and, later, in the City of Oakland Parks and Recreation for several years and all along the way the dream of painting continued to glow form deep within. Recently, I graduated from Silicon Valley College as a graphic designer and, believe it or not, my real career in the arts is just beginning.
